Be a good roommate
- Keep voice down between 10:30pm – 7:00am. When you can be heard from any other rooms, you are too loud!
- No physical exercises in the bedroom between 10:30pm – 7:00am. House is not sound proof and your movements disturb others.
- Clean up right after cooking or eating, “later” always becomes “never”.
Safety first
- Stay in the kitchen whenever the stove is on. Make sure the cooktop is off while leaving the kitchen.
- Nothing on the cooktop except the pots/pans during cooking.
- Know what to do in case your pots caught fire:
Video “Kitchen Grease Fire Safety“;
Video “How to Safely Put Out a Kitchen Fire“.
A Fire Extinguishing Spray was placed in the kitchen. If you used it, notify the landlord immediately and replace it with a new one. - Make sure the switch went all the way up/down/in/out when you turn on/off any power switch
Maintenance
- Grease from animal sources should never go into the sink, especially when they are not solidified. Dump them in a container or wait until they cool down and solidified, wipe them down and discard them into the solid garbage.
- NEVER EVER use any chemical drain cleaner in the kitchen sink. The chemicals will react with any grease residues in the pipe and become a cement-like hard blockage that can not be removed without cutting the pipe. In such a case any repairing and restoration cost will be billed to the tenants.
- Put garbage and recycles in proper bins and empty any bin whenever it is full. Cardboard/Shipping boxes should be properly folded and put outside in the proper bins by the owner.
- With the “Green bin” in use, all compostable food waste should go into the green bin, including fruit peels and food scraps.
- Report any sign of abnormal including but limited to water leaking, weird smell, strange sound/noise, flickering lights, tearing and wearing etc., in any area.
